Introduction

It’s a practical skills course going straight on to the bike of your choice, and begins the learning of motorcycle control skills. It allows the essential time particularly required on geared bikes, and enables you to make an informed decision if biking is for you. Any less time can be a very negative experience for a new rider, so our course is set with the best timeframe to give the most optimal and positive experience.

We all take different amounts of time to learn new skills, and this applies no less to learning to ride a motorcycle than it does to learning a language.

If you’ve never ridden a Powered Two-Wheeler (PTW), particularly a geared one, it’s a good idea to see this learning time on the course as a separate stage in your development with the Elements of CBT forming part of the overall learning process. Learning to ride can be done on either a geared motorcycle or an automatic scooter. It is necessary before joining the course, that you can already ride a pushbike.

When you’ve grasped the concept and have good control of the machine, we’ll take you out on the roads onto our nursery routes to get the practical experience of using the machine in traffic.
